What a fun time I am having at the moment. I very nice man (hello Delivery Man!) just delivered me three smallish, but really heavy, cardboard boxes. My goodness: 6000 bookmarks are a lot! I puffed and panted and got one box up to the attic. I think I'll let John do the rest when he gets in.
They look great, though I say so myself. They are much wider than a normal bookmark, but I think that will be fine with a picture book, and it makes them more substantial for kids - almost a long format postcard.
I got them even cheaper in the end: £350 plus VAT, which comes to £410 all in. They've done a great job too. The colour is spot on and it's a lovely silky laminate finish.

This is my first time in your blog and I find really lovely characters here!!!
I really appreciate your comment in my blog... and I'll be back!!!
I loved your illustration for IF. I just didn't know where to post my comments about it, so I hope this is a good place! Beautiful colors and narrative quality!

Thank you - glad you like them.
Illustration Friday is great for finding other illustrators you would never normally come across, and I was really pleased to find you!
Hi Indigene - thank you, this is the perfect place.
I have just had a peek at your gallery too. I particularly love the landscape paintings. My favourites are the spindly overpass trees against that gorgeous purple wall, and the backyard tree - great colours!
Glad that you are pleased with the bookmarks. Put a few in the post for me when you have time please.
Certainly will!
Wow Lynne! That is a lot of bookmarks! I would love to use one, so perhaps I can grab one off of mum? I love your illustartions, and have been using a home made one with them on for months, but it is a bit tatty now
:0)
You're welcome - I'll post you one with Mum's.
6000 does sound a lot, but if I spend a day in a school, I can easily work with 100 children. Since I am doing 16 days just in October, it's soon going to mount up, I wanted to have enough to not feel precious about giving them out. I'm always having to write my web address on scraps of paper for them!
ive tried for half an hour to comment,
love your work etc you are so talented !!!
Hi Goldanne,
What was the trouble with the comment leaving? It's worrying if it took so long.
Thank you for your lovely comment though!
OH IM SORRY --IT WOULD TOTALLY BE ME!!! I ONLY HAVE TO LOOK AT A PUTER FOR IT TO HAVE THE SCREAMING ABJABS( NEVER WRITTEN THAT WORD B4!!!) I WOULD LOVE TO BE ABLE TO DRAW ETC BUT AM TOTALLY TALENTLESS!!! XXX
You may not be able to draw, and be be a computer-hex(!) but I'm sure you have a talent for something of your own!
Lynne, they're lovely and thank goodness you're not planning to hide them away in the attic!
Oh and I've done the new gadget linking to your blog too - the vibrant yellow in your illustration certainly catches the eye!
Thanks for the tip - I've gone for overload :)
Hello Lynne. Nice to find an illustration blog from so close by. I live near Buxton. I found you via Suzanne.
The bookmarks look great. Good idea too. I'd not thought about bookmarks. Did you get different images on them, or just the one?
Nice to meet you! I'm going for a look around.
Thanks for that - it looks great!
By' the attic' I don't mean that my bookmarks are going into storage - that's where my studio is! It certainly keeps me fit having to go up and down 2 steep flights of stairs everytime the bell rings...
Hi Andrea - wow, hello neighbour!
Thanks for all your lovely comments.
I decided to squeeze as many pics as I could on the double-sided bookmark, so I would only have to do one design - a lot cheaper that way. I'll start giving them out to kids later this week, so we'll see what they make of them.
I'm just off to check out your site now - isn't the net wonderful?
I realise you have an attic room - all that light. You lucky, lucky thing!
