Website Redesign: the Sketchbooks

I had another meeting with the designer of my website today. I've had lots of bits and bobs to re-write, and new photos to select.

I want to make my sketchbook page more exciting. I have been playing around today in Photoshop, creating a montage that will form the background to each sketchbook category.

What do you think? If you select to view my Costa Rica sketchbook for instance, this image will come up first, with an introductory drawing from Costa Rica dropped into one side of the sketchbook template, and a bit of information about the trip on the opposite page.
You click the sketchbook to see the thumbnails of all the drawings I did on that trip.

I'm off to pack for the Hay Festival now. I'll let you know how it goes. Wish me luck!

The webpage looks really cool. Great idea. Love the way you have done the background.

I love the look of this - am I right thinking that the sketch book will have a page turning effect to display each sketch?

I keep meaning to make a montage picture for the front page to my site but never seem to have the time to do it.

Looking forward to seeing the new look site when it's finished.
Have fun at Hey...

This sounds wonderful. I love the idea of an overall background sketch that mirrors the items in the sketchbook. perhaps even muting that background sketch so the sketches pop.
I am looking forward to seeing the new site.

Too cool... can't wait to see it in action... very clever.

Glad you like it!

I was offered the turning pages thing, but that was going to be YET MORE money, and since I'm already paying several arms and legs, I am going for something more straight-forward. The sketch and text in the book will change per destination, but then you click them to link to the thumnails for that particular sketchbook.

I think the background looks great and overall feel of the page is that it's a sketchbook!

And I actually hope that you would not go with the page turning as I've seen quite a few of those glitching (taking forever to load etc.) and it's a killer I think.

I hope to have a chance to see larger images if I choose so ;)

Good luck, Lynne!
