I'm Available for Download!

Remember recently I went to a recording studio, to read the narration for a series of picture books? Well, the company that produced the app - Fingersnthumbs - just emailed to say that the books are all finished and available on-line. These are just some of the ones I recorded:

The app allows children to explore the pages of the books with their 'fingers and thumbs' as I read the story to them, and it comes to life with interactivity. The app is also great for a child learning to read alone, as I'm told they can touch any word in a story and have me pronounce it for them.

I say 'I'm told' as the app is designed to work on an iPad and unfortunately I don't have one, so I haven't managed to hear myself yet (which might be a good thing...).

If you do have one though, you can download the free app and taster, as well as additional books here. Books currently cost just £1.19.

I had a quick look at the download page and found this lovely review of my efforts. Thank you, whoever you are:

"What a lovely Ap! Beautifully illustrated, this enchanting picture book is an absolute winner with my little one (aged 5). The voice of the narrator is lovely too - I could listen to her all day!!"

You really want to get an ipad - they are quite good for sketching

I did borrow one for a short while but I didn't really get on with it. I know people who love them for sketching, so maybe I just needed more time, but I struggled with the fact that drawing with your finger means, nomatter how much you zoom in, you are always covering over the actual mark you're making with a dirty great finger end!

It takes a little while to get the hang of it. You can get a stylus for them too. But it's like everything... not all mediums work for everyone!
