April's SketchCrawl

The next SketchCrawl will be on next Saturday Apr 23rd. We will be spending the whole day at Graves Park and Rare Breeds Centre, if you fancy coming along and filling your sketchbook.

I will be there from 9.30am in the Animal Farm area in the north east corner of the park (see below) and you are welcome to join me whenever you like.

You can of course wander as you like, but for those who want to stick together as a group, here is a timetable for the day:

9.30 - 11.00: the inner animal area. This including rare breeds of roosters & poultry, an owl, some deer, bunnies (ahhhh...), highland cattle, goats and sheep with lambs (another ahhhh.....)

11.00 - 12.15: the outer animal area which houses pigs, donkeys and more sheep

12.15 - 1.15: the park's Rose Garden Cafe for lunch and a well-earned warm up.

1.15 - 2.30: the ponds. There are 3 large, tree-lined ponds, with various breeds of ducks, geese and a swan

2.30 - 3.00: nip back to the Rose Garden Cafe, for a warm up with a cuppa if necessary

3.00 - 4.15: along the woodland path. Includes some lovely, old, gnarled trees!

4.15 - 5.00: back to the Rose Garden Cafe for a final warm up and the usual sketchbook sharing

NB It can be windy, as the park is on a hill, so bring warm clothes, even if it's sunny. See you there!

This sounds a fantastic day. Sadly I'll be away. Do you know if anyone run Sketchcrawls in Manchester?

Hi W - you can check to see on the official sketchcrawl.com website and even put up a post on the forum, to ask if there is anyone local to you interested. It's a huge enough place, there must be enough people to do one even if it's not up and running already.

What a beautiful chicken. I've never seen this breed before. It looks like each feather has been dipped in india ink.

Have a great time on the sketchcrawl (wish I could come but sadly I live across the pond in Virginia, US) and congrats on finishing the illustrations for "Baby Goes Baaaa".
