Remember a few months back, I went to Wakefield to take part in my first Sketchcrawl? Well, it was so much fun, I thought we ought to do one here in Sheffield. I had a word with my friend Tim Rose, another keen outdoor-sketcher, and we have decided to organise something for September 26th.
It's a Sunday, so that more folks can hopefully make it, but so it won't be too busy in town. We have yet to finalise the timetable for the day but, if you think you might fancy giving it a go, mark the date in your diary then get in touch and we'll keep you posted.
We will meet up in a cafe for a cuppa, then focus on central venues, in the area in and around the Millennium Gallery, to save too much trekking about. This is me from last year in the same area (there's also the indoor Winter Gardens for if it rains):
Do come if you can: all you need is your sketchbook and pencil/pen. I don't suppose we'll get quite the turn-out that they do in the US:
...but hopefully it'll be more than just me and Tim (please?!).
Don't worry: it's completely laid-back and non-competitive, designed to be a fun way of spending time with like-minded, arty-types, rather than anything show-offy (that's got to win some sort of prize for the most hyphenated words in a sentence). If you are pleased with what you draw though, you can post your pics to the main Sketchcrawl website.
We'll probably finish the day in the Rutland Arms pub (which sports this rather fetching mural by street artist Phlegm), where you can relax your sketching arm and have a nosy at what other folks have done.

wish i was nearer. I'd go for it! Stick a note up on the AOI website, mebbe? Really nice coat, btw! xxx
Good idea. I've also just been approached by the local paper, who saw the post this afternoon and want to give it some publicity (pretty chuffed that they knew about the blog in the first place!)
That's brilliant news Lynne. Who else in high places reads your blog? HRH perhaps :0)
Yey...it's official! As you know, count me in :)
I wish I could be there, but my daughter's wedding is in Bristol that weekend. I've followed USK virtually from its inception (it's my home-page) and your sketches as they arrive. I have had the courage to post anything and haven't done much in the past few months.
I'll keep my eyes open for the next one

Never mind David - we are planning another in the Spring. Take that sketchbook to your daughter's wedding and get warmed up again!
would it be ok if I came along? I found your blog through Urban Sketchers - Sheffield needs to be sketched!!
