Me, Me, Me

I did another couple of self portraits in oil pastels on Sunday afternoon.

I like this one best. It's less 'faffy' than before. I think you'll agree too, that I have shaved a good 10 years off my previous age (though I look more grumpy).

I did this next one first (if you see what I mean), and I wasn't so pleased with it, but John says it captures more of 'me', so I thought I'd show you it:

Definitely an axe-murderer stare though: I look as though I'm trying to decide how best to dispose of the body...

The first one is definitely the 'you' I know and love. If John thinks the second one is more you, then I suppose that depend on how many times you tell hin 'You ARE the weakest link'!

These are great, Lynne. And the one at the top even manages to avoid the infamous I'm-drawing-myself stare:)

Very nice self portrait.

What does faffy mean?

Thanks guys. 'Faffy' as in 'faffing about' - unnecessary fuss.

I can see what he means but I like the simplicity of the top one and the hand is fantastic! :)

The top one is my favourite. The second is great but the clean simplicity of the first appeals to me more.

Yes, I preferred the simplicity too. The hand was a right battle though, so I'm glad you think it works ok Jessie!

How do you draw your right hand if you are right handed?

It's in the mirror, silly!! LOL

I love them both and can't pick a fave. I LOVE the various colours you have used to great effect! I'm almost tempted to dig out my oil pastels and have a play ~ :)
