Look What's Arrived!

In these days of email and texting, I don't tend to get that much ordinary, through-the-letterbox mail. Still the odd bill. No letters though, which is a shame, as I used to love writing and receiving old-fashioned, pen-and-paper letters. Hey ho. What I do receive now and then though, is a parcel. Lovely! Especially when it's a ring-the-doorbell, postman-on-the-doorstep kind of parcel.

Don't you just love opening parcels?

I had a pretty good idea what was inside this one as soon as I saw the Hachette logo on the label. Which made it even more exciting, because, inside was two copies of my brand new book with Julia Jarman:

Class One Farmyard Fun is a sequel to Class Two at the Zoo and Class Three all at Sea. All very funny, about school trips which go horribly wrong.

A short while before any book hits the shops, the author and illustrator are sent 'advance' copies. There are two because one is the hardback and one is the paperback.

The hardback comes out first. That is published on May 18th - less than 2 weeks! Then the paperback follows, on August 10th.

So folks, get your orders in!

Hi Lynne - I'm a sketchbook skool junkie - taken them all except Playing because...well...playing is really nothing I need help with. I get so excited to meet the new teachers and although I'd surfed around on your website before I couldn't wait to see what you'd be doing with us. Well - WOWZA! I'm so happy. Everything you said resonated so deeply with me. We live radically different lives but share so many views on creativity and attitude that I feel quite buoyed. I live presently with my lovely fella in a northern Canadian village of 500 people on a fat day. I work as a counselor on a reserve, both at an addiction treatment centre and at the school. I have habituated everyone to my drawing practice and give sketchbooks out to kids and adults as an adjunct to their healing. Right now I'm not working as I'm recovering from hip replacement surgery. The Exploring klass has been a total Buddhasend as I regain my mobility! The weather outside remains inhospitable to outdoor sketching but I'll figure something out. (Here in North West River, Labrador the bay is still frozen hard, no spring breakup yet, and still drifts of snow on the ground) Sorry to blather on do but I'm just so pleased with your participation that I wanted to tell you.

Hello Jan from way over the pond, up and away! How lovely to know that you are watching me from all that way around the world and even better to learn how much you are getting from the films.

Sounds like you are doing a great job there to spread the word about drawing as healing. A friend of mine, who just had two major bereavements on a short period, took on the challenge of drawing a tree every day for a year, as a healing project. She just exhibited them all locally - a perfect idea and a great help to her she says.

Get well soon!

thanks Lynne - a year of trees - now that's my kind of challenge. How wonderful. I'm hobbling off to make my concertina now. Enough lounging about in bed.

I've just watched your intro video at sketch book school and also found your class on Craftsy. I did leave a question at Craftsy but I find that the questions don't get to the teachers but Craftsy staff answer them.

Dear Lynne: I find creatures in pavement cracks and have to learn how to bring them to life with movement and to be seen at different angles. I'm not really interested in people. Do you believe your class a craftsy would help me? Any advise?

Hi LindieLee - you should have had an answer on the Craftsy platform a while ago. Let me know if not. Hope you enjoy the Craftsy class.

By the way - the individual instructors always answer the questions on Craftsy classes themselves, usually within a few days if not same day. The only time you will get an answer from the Craftsy team direct is if your question is technical, or relates to the actual use of the Craftsy platform, rather being a specific question about the content of the class. That is because the instructor can forward your query to the Craftsy team if they don't know the answer themselves.

Hope that clears that up for you.
