Resolutions?

I don't normally do New Year resolutions, but this time I've decided to try and make more space for myself to actually enjoy my work better. It's not that I don't enjoy it, I just sometimes forget to notice that I have one of the best jobs in the world. Too much head-down, trogging through projects with my focus on getting it done, rather than on having fun with it!

I am also resolved to spend more time drawing for pure entertainment. I have always enjoyed my sketchbook work on holidays but, in recent years, have not made much effort to draw for fun the rest of the time: busman's holiday syndrome I suppose. Still.

My new contact with Urban Sketchers (see A Very Flattering Invitation) has got me all fired up, and I need to take advantage of the inspiration before it leeches away.

With this in mind, after slogging away yesterday afternoon, sorting my 9 month backlog of accounts' receipts into some order (!!) I then allowed myself a hour of fiddling around with a bit of digital tinting. Mmmm - still not sure. When I have a bigger block of time I'll get out those watercolours.

Right: 9 months of receipts to get typed into Excell. Here we go...

Thank you! The dancers are from the very first book I ever illustrated - The Show at Rickety Barn.
