On Friday's images, I was painting a digital watercolour layer beneath the drawing, using Corel Painter, but on this image I have used Photoshop instead, to tint the actual line work.

I did this by converting the actual sketch layer to 'hard light' then creating a layer beneath the sketch and colouring it with various flat colours.
For the next drawing, I attempted to combine this technique with using the Painter watercolours. The first image below is the original, the middle is a line tint in Photoshop, done as above, the third is after I have painted some colour into the image in Painter.

Let me know which techniques you like best!
I prefer the original bw.
ReplyDeleteI like the pink door you did with photoshop. It feels just right - there's more punch than the sketch version but it's not overworked.
ReplyDeleteThese are great Lynne...I really like the work done in Painter. Adds so much depth to the sketches. I haven't used Painter much...need to get in there and play with it. I've only found one brush in Photoshop that I really like and that is the chalk brush. I can layer with lots of different colors and change the opacity of the layers. You can get some nice textures going. Thanks for showing all your experimentation...very inspiring!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonder holiday!
I like the third image the best-I just found your blog today, I'm looking forward to browsing through and looking at the rest of your work, it's lovely!!
ReplyDeleteHi. I absolutely love the tinted look of the door image. I've got to try it. I'm not sure I understand how, but it is amazing! It has the look of very old illustrations. Love it!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year Lynne!
